Film Biz Recycling, recently moved in Gowanus, Brooklyn, is a non-profit that seeks to re-use, recycle, redistribute and re-purpose items from NYC’s film, television and commercial production. As the film and entertainment business throws away a ton of set design pieces and props, this warehouse is a good source to find absolutely everything one could have seen on the screen. Among good-shape vintage furniture, there are tons of old lamps, paintings, knick-knacks, ceramics, glassware, vintage rugs, art supplies, textiles, and ancient technology (think old TVs and VHS camcorders).
Film Biz Recycling is fine for those on a budget, and the owner is open to negotiations. And for one, the warehouse space and the merchandise is very well organized.
