[edit] About

Billy's Antiques and Props's green tent, located at the corner of East Houston and Elizabeth Streets since 1986, is the Bowery's last eclectic antique and prop store. This green circus-like tent that looks like both a fleas market and a carnival midway, is a the last vestige of the old New York and is its legend. Initially called Lot 76, Billy's Antiques grew into a carnival of vintage finds: vintage furniture exposed right on the sidewalk, costume jewelry, mirrors, assorted paintings, quasi-stolen subway signs, and even some oddities, like anatomical mannequins, human-size statues, mummy's coffin or a tray of glass eyes.

The owner – Billy Leroy, 50 – is as much a New York celebrity as is his tent and is the unofficial Bowery Mayor. Natty dressed fellow with a blond ponytail and dark glasses, he can be often found sitting outside tent.
