[edit] About

Jackson Square, once known as the famous Barbary Coast, is a unique enclave from the California Gold Rush. It withstood the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire–the only commercial district in the City to do so. With its architecture of brick and ornate cast iron buildings from the 1850s and 1860s, this historic district lends a unique ambience to a venue famed for decades for distinguished art and antiques.

Jackson Square is home to accredited dealers of the highest caliber, representing all areas of the fine and decorative arts. Within a two-block radius, one can find 17th and 18th century English and Continental antique furniture, 19th century French impressionist paintings, antique maps, antique silver, antique carpets, and cutting edge 21st century design. Specialties unique in America and found only in Jackson Square include galleries dedicated to period textiles, early California art, and European posters.
